Collection: Angelika

Angelika is a Norwegian artist whose body of work is strongly inspired by Scandinavian landscapes as well as traditional Nordic designs. 

Angelika is particularly drawn to the contrast between the cold and whitish winter shades and the brightness of summer - many of her paintings are characterized by bold chromatic and textural contrasts. Departing from a literal representation of flowers and botanical elements, Angelika’s work show nature in its inner mechanisms and vitality with a focus on the emotions that these views create in the viewer.

Using brushes and palette knives, the artist creates rich surfaces with oil pastels, charcoal, acrylic and watercolor. The drips illustrate the endless growth and decay in organic structures and suggest a reflection on the cycle of life itself. The subjects are reinterpreted in an abstract way in order to create a visual language that gives the viewer room for their own interpretations.
